Figure of speech refers to some phrases or words in a poem used to create a rhetorical effect in a pieceof written material.

Figure of speech is something just like to beautify the piece of writing by adding some different phase of meanings and literary devices into it.

1. \bf {Simile :-} It shows comparison between two things by use the words "as" and "like".

2. \bf {Metaphor :-} It shows comparison between two unrelated things which are common in some of their qualities.

=> Its raining cats and dogs.

(It means that its raining heavily. But here two unlike words are used to show a specific characteristic.)


3. \bf{Alliteration :-} It is used to create a rhythm and bring focus to a line or sentence. The first letters of the words in the sentence repeat.

=> She sells seashells by the seashore.

(The letter "s" repeats in the above sentence.)


4. \bf {Repetition :-} By the word its clear that in this type of figure of speech, words repeat more than one time.

(Here the word, smile, repeats more than one time.)


5. \bf {Imaginary :-} This represents the ideas, actions or objects in such a imaginative way of writer.

(The words - "dark" and "dim" are visual images.)


6. \bf {Personification :-} It shows life in non - living things or animated things.

(Here trees are compared with the merry children. They can't move but there are showed as sprinting.)
