My city is Kolkata.
Kolkata is India’s second largest city and is among one of the four metropolitan cities of India. It is the state capital of West Bengal. Kolkata was earlier known as Calcutta. It is a city made by the British Empire; it was the capital of British India from 1773 to 1911. Kolkata is famous for its desserts and sweets Mishţi Doi, Shondesh, Roshogolla, Laddu, Pantua, Chomchom, Piţha or pithe are some of the famous sweets of Kolkata.Victoria Memorial, Howrah bridge, Botanical Garden, Science City etc. are some of the must visit places of Kolkata. Kolkata’s attractions also lies in its unusual public transportation system as it offer multiple modes of transport like hand puller rickshaw to older trams & metro trains to boats. The best time to visit the city is during its biggest festival which is the Durga Puja. At that time the entire city is dressed up in amazing lights & stay awake twenty four hours with big crowd migrating from various parts of West Bengal & other parts of the world.
