Thanks for the A2A. Is it fine if I go into essay mode? I do love my grandpa a lot. I call him dada, even though he is my mums dad and I ought to call him nana (just Gujju logic) he turned 92 this year.

Young people often have a close relationship with an elderly person. Without a shadow of a doubt, my grandfather is one of the most influential people in my life. He is more than just my grandfather. He is my father figure, my mentor, my guide, and I am proud to say: my best friend.
There is something about his lap; its security, it's comfort, that makes for the safest place to be even midnigh
Do you have any lessons from a 6-month remote?
Ahha.. A question i just could not decline to answer. Well my both set of grandparents are very simple people with no great background history and no beautiful love story.
My maternal grandparents were born and brought up in Multan,Pakistan and got married there only. Came to India after partition with a 1 year old kid. My materal grandfather passed away before i was born and the only things i know about him are the ones i have heard from my mother and uncles and aunts. He was a man of short temper and was very strict with his children. He was very proud man and made the best of what life gave him. With all the hardships of setting up your life in a new place he made the most of all the circumstances and lived a full life. He had lot of interest in travelling and eating all the multani delicacies. He used to cook some of them too. :)
My maternal grand mother : She was a completely sweet adorable lady. The ones you imagine when you hear the word Dadi Ma or Nani Ma. She was really adorable and loving. She passed away when i was 3 years old and the only memories i have of her are the ones when she use to ask me what sweet dish to cook for me after i return from play school (Yup i had a sweet tooth since birth :P ). She spent all her life living for her husband , her children and then her grandchildren. A Beautiful lady indeed :).
My paternal grandparents were also born in Multan,Pakistan but got married after the coming to India after the partition. My grandfather is a man of few words and lives his life with no complaints and completely agreeing to whatever his children and wife suggest. In his old age now he has developed a condition of forgetting little things . Well i guess thats old age showing up on him. He tried his best to inculcate the qualities of honesty and simplicity in his children and i believe he has done a great work :)
