yesterday our class was taken to neerja modi school for a debate. I was a part of the audience. one student from each section was selected as a participant in the debate. it was on the topic - 'high school students should be allowed mobile phones'.
a girl from our class was representing the 'for' group.
the debate was very interesting to listen to. the setting, the enthusiasm of the participants, and the topic.
as the debate continued, the 'against' group put forward their best point that students need to be away from any radiation during 24 hrs of the day and only the school can provide that whereas the 'for' group said that it can help take notes and will make school more digital. As the debate ended, everyone turned to the jury. as our principal declared the result, surprisingly, the 'for' group won.
all the students had smiles on their faces and they wished this could be implemented in the schools. soon it looked like a debate between the principal and teachers of our school for the same topic. all we hope is that the 'for'party wins!
