Answer:
Sachin TendulkarSachin Ramesh Tendulkar (born April 24, 1973) is an Indian cricketer, widely considered to be one of the greatest batsmen of all time. He currently holds the records for the most cumulative runs in One-Day Internationals, and the most number of centuries scored in both One-day Internationals and Test cricket. He made his international debut against Pakistan in 1989 at the age of sixteen, becoming India's youngest Test player. Although primarily a top-order batsman, Tendulkar has often proved to be a useful and effective slow bowler. He received India's highest sporting honour, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna in the year 1997-1998 and the civilian award Padma Shri in 1999. His cricketing and batting abilities are widely regarded as genius by many stalwarts of the game. For instance, Sir Donald Bradman, the Australian great said of Sachin, "He reminds me of myself". He is affectionately known as The Little Master by his adoring fans. On 23 December 2012, Tendulkar announced his retirement from ODIs and from Twenty20 format in May 2013. He retired from cricket on 16th November 2013 after playing his 200th Test match, against the West Indies in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium. Following the end of his final match, the Prime Minister's Office on 16 November declared Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour, making him the first sportsperson and youngest to receive it.

Sachin Becomes Youngest And First Sportsperson To Get Bharat Ratna

In a fitting finale to what has been a glorious career, the 40-year-old batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar was on Saturday chosen for the prestigious Bharat Ratna, the country's highest civilian award, making him the first sportsperson to be bestowed with the honour. The Prime Minister's Office made the announcement hours after Tendulkar brought down the curtains on a 24-year international career. Tendulkar, who became the first active sportsperson to become a Rajya Sabha member last year, is being given the honour along with Professor CNR Rao, the man behind India's maiden Mars mission. Previous recipients of the Bharat Ratna include Nobel laureates Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa. In 2008, Tendulkar became the first sportsperson, along with chess grandmaster Viswanathan Anand, to receive the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honour. Tendulkar received the Arjuna Award (a national award for distinguished sports persons) in 1994, and in 1998 he received the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award, the country's highest sporting honour. The next year, he was the recipient of the Padma Shri (the fourth-highest civilian award). Sir has never ever said 'well played' to me because he thought I would get complacent and I would stop working hard. Maybe he can push his luck and wish me now, well done on my career, because there are no more matches, sir, in my life. - Sachin on Coach Achrekar during his retirement speech.

In an unprecedented move, 65,000 people were forced to vacate the stadium and the match was completed without a single spectator inside the ground. Perhaps it could all have been avoided if Shoaib had not stood in my way or if Wasim had withdrawn the appeal. India lost the Test match by 46 runs and the way the match ended left us all feeling rather bitter.
