  • Kadambini was a widow with no children having a special bond with her brother-in-law's son. They establish a great affinity for each other.
  • She dies unexpectedly one night. The family summons four Brahmins, who transport her to a temple, where she will be ritually cremated. Her corpse, however, stirs, and she rises from the dead and walks out.
  • She had a peculiar in between situation after resurrection. She wanted to go home, but convinces herself that she won't be welcomed back. She discovers while the living are afraid of the dead, the dead are also afraid of the live.
  • She stays with Yogmaya, but gets kicked out when they got to know she was a ghost. she returns home, but others were petrified of her presence and requested her to leave.
  • She goes home and attempts to persuade she was still alive, but they were unconvinced. Finally, she commits herself by throwing herself into a well in and drowning. She was only able to demonstrate she was alive by dying.
