Fisheries in India:
Indian fisheries cover a major part of India’s food production, as it also provides employment and opportunities for more than 15 million people across the coastal and plain areas of our country.
With diversity in seafood being abundant, the prospects of export of seafood have increased since last decade with an annual production of 12.60 million metric tonnes.
The growth in fish production has seen tremendous rise in inlands as well, as government now provides helps, knowledge and monetary support for freshwater aquaculture, which contributes around 2.41 million metric tonnes.
