The question has been asked from the story Leader of Men by Siddhartha Chowdhury. The Leader of Men is a sad tale of the struggles of a poor man in the life of a town. The hero of that story is Roop Singh.

Roop Singh works as a guard in an apartment, located in Patna city. He is a tall guy with a well- built body. He has a brown moustache, and his nose is pointed.

Roop Singh knew English since he had graduated College of Commerce intermediate, Patna. He passed Intermediate Examination and began agriculture. He only started farming because the farm's income had not been sufficient.

He was initially given a job as a teacher at a school in Bihar. Since he was not paid for six months, he left the job and started to work in apartment as a security guard

Roop Singh was very different from the other Guards in the society. He was long in height belongs to a Rajput Clan and he keeps long moustache on his face although he was poor but educated he was found reading books and he would keep the knowledge of current affairs. Once when Roop Singh was performing his duty a friend of Kedia came in his car but it was late night so Roop Singh did not allow him to come as it was against the rule of society to enter late in . On this Kedia got angry and decided to to teach Roop Singh lesson. Once Kedia organize a Party on the night of 31 Dec . He invites Roop Singh and other guards too toteach Roop singh a lesson. When Roop singh reaches there Kedia insult him saying "Roop Singh Have you ever tasted such a delicious and costly food in your life. On such words Roop Singh got angry and leaves the party . This shows that Roop Singh was a guard having self respect more than anythjng else. Honesty and intigrity were things that were far more than anything else for him. He was a man of self esteemed and respect.
