Human digestive system :-

The nutrition in human beings takes place in the human digestive system.

It consists of alimentary canal and the associating glands. There are various organs of Human digestive system. They are: Mouth, Oesophagus (also known as Food Pipe), Stomach, Small Intestine and Large Intestine.

The glands that are associated with this system are: Salivary glands, Liver and Pancreas. The human alimentary canal is from mouth to anus and it is about a 9 meters long tube.

The ducts of many glands open in the alimentary canal and pour the secretions of the digestive juices in to the alimentary canal.

Importance of enzymes used in digestive system :-

Enzymes are Bio - catalysts used to break down complex substances into simpler ones. They are involved in the digestion of food materials such as starch, fats, proteins etc.

The digestive Enzymes in our body help to break down these complex substances like proteins to amino acids, fats to fatty acids and glycerol and carbs to glucose.

Without these enzymes it is very hard to digest complex materials

Answer:

The human digestive system consists of the gastrointestinal tract plus the accessory organs of digestion (the tongue, salivary glands, pancreas, liver, and gallbladder). Digestion involves the breakdown of food into smaller and smaller components, until they can be absorbed and assimilated into the body.
