Environmentalist: Good Morning Mr. Sen. I heard your group is planning to start a new bottling unit here.

Industrialist: Good Day. I am just contemplating the idea. The location seems to be just right that I think it would be worth considering.

Environmentalist: But, have you realized that this area is quite close to the most popular residential area of the city?

Industrialist: Yes, I know. That is why I like this place. I will not have any shortage of the basic amenities needed.

Environmentalist: I agree. However, think of the waste products. They will be toxic and won’t degrade easily. This can cause health hazards to the people staying here. Moreover, the pollution can have a drastic impact on this serene environment.

Industrialist: Oh, I am sorry that I did not realize this. Thank you for pointing this out. I shall look out for another place where the waste gets degraded easily or can be recycled.

Environmentalist: Thank you for understanding me. Wish you good luck in your new venture.

Kapil Saxena : We are going to start a tannery in the industrial area here in Kanpur. Almost all the formalities are done and we are soon going to lay the foundation of our factory.

Brij Sharma : That's good, but as I am aware a tannery adds to the pollution in the surroundings. Have you thought of tackling that part as well.

Kapil Saxena : Oh, that's not much to worry about, we'll see to that once our factory starts working.

Brij Sharma : Of course, that is really something to worry about, lest our city would be a squalor of toxins and pollutants. These aspects should be considered before setting up a factory.

Kapil Saxena : Do you really feel this way? As long as our business runs well and we earn a profit, everything is alright.

Brij Sharma : Here you are wrong as, before our personal interest, we need to ensure the larger interests that rest in our environment and our common man. You need to think of the safety of your employees, your city, your environment before setting up your business and build everything as per the law which governs the disposal of wastes in a tannery unit.  That is statutory as well as the moral obligation of a person.

Kapil Saxena : What you say makes sense. I will follow your advice.

Brij Sharma : Thank you.
