O don't no but make me brainliest
Volunteer – We saw many shallow pits with white eggshells nearby. Could you please tell us what these are?
Villagers - These are turtle eggs.
Volunteer - This is surprising. We have never come across turtle eggs in our walks along the beaches of Konkan in all these years.
Villagers - The authorities have prohibited public entry since last month after silver smugglers were caught here. Turtles nest and lay eggs on the shoreline of Maharashtra.. Few people from every village keep combing the beach early morning, throughout the year.
Female turtle comes to the beach to nest and to lay eggs and leaves behind a trail. The egg hunters follow this trail right up to the half-meter deep nest. They dig up and steal all the eggs to either eat them or to sell them. Turtles spotted while it is still laying eggs, are allowed to live till the laying is over after which, it is caught, and then killed and eaten. There are laws to protect these turtles but it is still being caught discreetly.
Volunteer - This is very distressing.
