You can either use the following discussion or develop your own taking help from it:

Student A: Hey do you know our friend, Hitesh’s parents are extremely worried about him. He neither takes part in any competition nor in extracurricular activities nor plays in sports at school and home. He is always buried deep inside his books.

Student B: Yes, I know. He is famous in the class as book-worm.

Student A: His mother called me last evening and sought my help to encourage him to take interest in sports and extracurricular activities.

Student B: What can we do in this regard?

Student A: I think we need to talk to him. We need to explain to him competitions, co-curricular and extracurricular activities have been given a lot of importance in the entire framework of education as they help students build all-round personality.

Student B: Besides, competitions, cultural and sports activities break the ennui of the academics. Organizing competitions, cultural programs and sports days in the school make school a much more interesting place. They make education more romantic. Children love to participate in these colourful activities. Indirectly these activities bring out their latent talent to the surface.

Student A: I agree with you. We must tell him he is harming his own health by not participating in these competitions, extracurricular activities. ‘A healthy mind lives in a healthy body’. Besides, sports and games are undoubtedly the building blocks of the health and character of children. Their importance in the over-all and holistic development of children cannot be denied.

Student B: I agree with you. Games and extracurricular activities teach us many values such as time management, concentration and focus, sportsmanship, teamwork etc. Not playing games means missing all these skills and values. His shyness is directly related to his not participating in these activities.

Student A: I think when we will give all these arguments he will listen to us and feel motivated.

Student B: We will suggest him that initially he can take part in those activities with us. Later on he will realize participating in these activities is so much fun.

Student A: Great idea. Let’s go and talk to him.
