Dear Diary
Today I worked with a large number of youth in Delhi, who voluntarily took part in the Yamuna Shramdaan to clean the highly polluted river Yamuna which is the lifeline for 60 million people. The event was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and other organizations, in response to the call of the Prime Minister to volunteer for a Swacch Bharat or Clean India.
The Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan aims at making India a clean country. All the people, high office holders, common people, students and youth are participating in keeping their respective areas clean. In our school we have been divided into groups to look after the cleanliness of a particular part of the school. On Sundays we go for an hour to clean some public place. We have adopted one monument for our social science project and look after its cleanliness. We create awareness among the people regarding the importance of keeping the place clean.
This work is giving me so much of satisfaction. At the end of the day when I see the place clean I feel so happy that I have been able to do something to keep my country clean and beautiful.
