Answer:

DURGA PUJA

When: September 21-29, 2017

Where: West Bengal and other parts of India with Bengali community

The ceremonial worship of the mother goddess is one of the most important festivals of India. Apart from being a religious festival for the Hindus, it is also an occasion for reunion and rejuvenation and a celebration of traditional culture and customs. While the rituals entail 10 days of fast, feast and worship, the last four days . Saptami, Ashtami, Navami and Dashami . are celebrated with much gaiety and grandeur in India and abroad, especially in Bengal, where the ten-armed goddess riding the lion is worshipped with great devotion.

The day also marks the victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahishasur. In most parts of North India during nine days of Navratri, Ramayan katha and plays are performed and on 10th day of Dussera effigies of Ravana are burnt on bonfires in the evening, which is a spectacular view and draws large crowds. Vijayadashami is celebrated in various ways in different parts of South India too with the 9th day being Ayudha Puja and Saraswati Puja.

I enjoyed a lot!!!
