Dear Diary
The contentment and solace of good deeds go deep into the soul and the joy is just ineffable. I have been extremely glad since morning. At school we celebrated the Green Day in a big way. Being the captain of the Green Club, I had the responsibility of making the activities a real success. I am happy that I did my best. The celebrations started with green day attires. All the school children and teachers attended the school in green T-shirts, shirts, suits, and saris. I had worn a vibrant green T-shirt with Green Day slogan on it. I was adjudged Mr. Gorgeous Green for wearing the most beautiful and inspiring attire.
Secondly, a special Green Day assembly was held at the school in which I delivered a speech on ‘Saving the Environment in Small Ways’. Thirdly, nominal contribution of rupees 20 was collected from each student to install solar power plant at the school. Fourthly, 2000 saplings were planted by 2000 students of the school and groups of students were made for the successful nurturing and caring of the trees. it was announced by the Principal that each group that will successfully grow the sapling under its care into a fully fledged tree, will be awarded prize at the annual day. Finally, a pledge to save and use the natural resources optimally was administered by the Principal. It was really an activity packed day. The Principal and teachers praised my liberally for organizing the day in an innovative and sincere manner.
I am very excited about the Green Day celebration, a mega event to be undertaken by our Green Club. I want it to be a memorable and innovative celebration different from the past ones.
Firstly, we would have a dress code that day for teachers to wear green outfits. Students of Green Cub will wear their green t-shirts, the one marked with Green Club. Principal sir has already given us permission to have a tree plantation drive in the morning and we have invited people from nearby old age home to come and join us for the drive. Some saplings will be gifted to them as well to plant in their garden.
A small cultural program will be presented before the guests to highlight the need to make our earth greener. After the recess, a poster making competition will be held and the theme for the competition will be 'Go Green.' The winners of the competition will be felicitated before the end of the day and their posters would be displayed on the soft boards.
I only wish that it should be grand success and a feather in our cap.
