I am born on October 25th 1981. So, yesterday my family and me did celebrate my birthday with cake and coffee and other soft drinks. My mother asked me what kind of cake I would like to see on the table and she said I can choose two different pies that she will buy then. I said I would like to see a Käsekuchen (Cheesecake) and a Bienenstich (Bee Sting Cake). Then my aunt did call me by phone and asked me as well what kind of pie I would like.. I must explain that my aunt loves to bake Pies and she is master in that area! I answered that we will have already two different pies but I knew my aunt would ask her question again as baking is her passion and she did. I said I would like to see a Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest gateau).
Many people of the family arrived and we had now three of my favorite pies on the table… Käsekuchen (Cheesecake), Bienenstich (Bee Sting Cake) and the Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (Black Forest gateau). I rarely eat pies and other sweet stuff but on festivities I do and then I know my favorites. Oh and by the way.. The husband of my mother bought some cakes as well… we call them either sometimes Krapfen or Berliner but I think you can call them Doughnut or Cruller in english. They are not my favorites but still nice of him as we all now had the agony of choice. There was plenty sweet stuff
You can now imagine it was not easy to decide where to start, right? I didn´t want to get stomach-ache so that I decided for one pie. I did eat two pieces of the Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte. It was fine that there was much to choose and the family was happy. My mother said that the Bienenstich and Käsekuchen will be still ok next day if the pie comes in the fridge. therefor I have still some pieces at home and I will eat them later.
While I don’t really expect huge present anymore with my age of 31 years, as I am also happy about little things because I believe it comes always from the heart, I must mention that I got again way more than I expected.
I mentioned that I don’t own a cigarette case and the husband of my mother did remember. It was his present to me and when I opened the case, I was surprised that it was already full with cigarettes and a 10 Euro note. You might think that it is macabre to gift something as a birthday present, that could kill you, but don’t worry, I am smoker anyway and I was very happy about the present.
My mother did gift a 20 Euro note and a 30 Euro shopping gift card. That was wonderfully too. Grandma and grandpa came with a cool “Dennis” key tag, a pretty cool sweatshirt and additional 30 Euro.
I said again that I did not expect so much. But I said thank you to everyone and that their presence alone made me already very happy. I love my family.
It was the perfect birthday.
