October 11, 2018: Today we felt the real fury of nature in the form of the cyclone Titli. Our house in a coastal town of Odisha somehow escaped the wrath of the cyclone, partly because it is located in the interior and there are some layers of buildings to protect our house. But I went out later in the day to take stock of the damage left behind by Titli. For one I was curious to know how people were coping and secondly, electricity has been disconnected as a matter of precaution and there was very little to do at home. The winds had been beating the coast at some 165kmph. Neighbouring Andhra Pradesh probably suffered much more than us here in Odisha. Luckily lacs of people were relocated thanks to the efforts by the local administration and that ensured no lives were lost here. But the poor people will take a long time to pick up the pieces from where they left before Titli struck.

Tuesday.

30th October, 2018.

Today was the most thrilling day of my life.

I reached Orissa a week before with my friends. We reached Puri beach today.

I was very excited as it is one of my dream place.

We were enjoying on the sea with the famous Chumchums and samosas when suddenly the waves became furious.

One of our friend couldn’t control himself and was dragged into the sea.

He cried for help, but we all were confused! A fisherman saved his life.

He said that it is the cyclone Tili, which has destroyed many lives and homes last night at Gopalpur.

He were literally thrown out of the beach by the fishermen and rescue authorities to save our lives.

We all rushed to our hotels immediately.

Within an hour, it was raining extremely heavy and the waves were on high alerts.

I can’t forget this day in my life.
