Dear Diary,

My usual rapid morning wake up came extra early today. These giants who I have lived with for nearly 10 years have always been very disturbing and not aware of my sleep. I need my beauty sleep! I slowly start trudging towards my food bowl which is, as usual, empty. One of my owners kids Emily is supposed to have my food ready for me when I wake up. But, of course, that isn’t usually the case. So my journey continues. I try leaping upstairs to find her, and that’s where she is. You can’t imagine how thrilled I was! I make those cute eyes that nobody can resist and slowly she leads me downstairs to where it all really starts everyday. The regular dog food pours out of a big, brown bag into my bowl. My golden, shining bowls situated next to the big brown beagle, Joey, at the far right end of the line of 3 food bowls. I was the oldest dog, and obviously the most loved, so mine was the biggest and the boldest.

The day continues, we go on our morning walk. I see only one rabbit this time and seem to not be as tempted to go for it and hunt it down, so no blood today. As we slowly trudge into the modern style mansion I realize that I am getting tired more easily, must be the age. Then, my owner demands “SIT!”. I must follow so I gradually move down onto my hind legs. All three of us were praised with love and got a treat. I lay down for my nap. It usually last for two hours, so I will tune back in later.

I think it is around lunch time now because I hear a slight grumbling of my stomach. I was right! At lunchtime, we get treated to wet dog food, not dry dog food. So I slump over to the bowl, I am slightly dreary from my nap although I feel like that was the boost I needed. I gobbled that food down so fast I am not sure I even chewed. Later on I go to play with my chew toys. They include a teddy bear and other old stuffed animals that the kids grew out of. Emily threw the animals to me and I fetched and returned. Exciting!

Later in the day, I spring onto the couch onto Emily’s lap. There I enjoyed a soft massage and a wonderful petting. Her fingertips dug into my fur to loosen all those sore muscles form running and walking. Then, she takes me for another long, enjoyable walk. I saw a few more rabbits but again, not in the mood. She told me stories, about her day at school, about her friends and what turned out to be her enemies. I realized that her life was a lot harder than I thought. Her friends ditched her, she was failing a lot of her classes, nothing I had to worry about but I couldn’t help having a bad feeling.

My dinner awaits but as hungry as I was I knew I was done. Another amazingly interesting day for me.
