Ah the magic of the school fete, at a very ordinary little Catholic School in the suburbs. I was surprised to find myself saying it was one of the best I have ever attended, but then everything that this school does, seems to be good.
Waiting for a turn on the slippery slide was hard going but how delightful to take a little friend’s hand to hold while you are waiting? A third 5-year-old arrived. She too was hugged and then there was another hand to hold. Such innocence at this tender age melted my heart.Nothing prepares you for the sheer joy on the face of a 5-year-old (Violet) coming down the giant slippery slide on a calico mat! A grin afterwards as wide as a Cheshire cat that got the cream. This was Violet’s first ever fete.

Belinda and I visited theSweets Stall. Seems like they have gone up-market since I was last at a fete! Cellophane dominated the wrapping on this well-marketed stall. Ten Dollars later, we were well stocked with fudge, coconut ice and marshmallows. Yummy.
 
And how the Cake Stall has changed too. Cupcakes are THE big thing and they make quite a statement sitting on fancy cupcake holders, decorated beyond recognition, just begging you to buy them.
