Answer:

Dussehra or Vijayadashami is an annual festival celebrated by Indians across the country on the 10th day of the Hindu month of Ashvina. The day falls after Navratri, the nine days festival celebrated to honour the nine incarnations of Goddess Durga.

Vijayadashami marks the victory of Lord Ram over the evil King Ravana. On this day, effigies of Ravana, his brother Kumbhakaran and his son Meghnad are burnt to signify the triumph of good over evil. It also honours Goddess Durga's battle against Mahishasura.
