Dear Diary,
Today was the day of the grade 12 career guidance workshop.
I had been very nervous about it before attending, as I always am when thinking about my future after graduation. I had been uncertain about my career choice, and the future seemed like a dark abyss to me.
The guests of the workshop were alumni of our school who now had full-fledged professional careers, such as a policeman, a chef, and even a professional stage dancer. I was mostly uninterested throughout the workshop, just clapping after one guest after another finished their presentations.
They were all really nice, and answered questions from students well, but I couldn't get interested in any of them. I contemplated doing the same jobs as them, but I couldn't think of any that suited me. It was until Mr. Landon's turn.
Mr. Landon was a blonde, green-eyed man in his 30's. He's a heart surgeon. I was also uninterested in this job, at least in the beginning. When he started telling us about his job, his enthusiasm and passion could be seen in his eyes. I listened to him attentively as he talked about memorable patients he had performed surgeries on.
I was so inspired by how hard and long he had to work every single day, yet remained so optimistic and passionate about his job. I was also inspired by how he saves lives almost every day. And after he finished, the applause he received was as loud as thunder.
After this workshop, I felt confident about my future now. I decided to pursue a medical degree and do the noble job of being a doctor like Mr. Landon. I don't know if I'll succeed, but I will work hard until I do.
