Write a difference between rate of percolation and the amount of water retained

Water is retained in small vesicles or spaces between particles of soil. Higher percolation occurs when there are large spacesbetween particles (lower friction). Therefore it would be expected that a higher percolation ratewould decrease the amount of water retained in the soil.
