Modi, Shah Have Been Lying About Gandhi. Here's What He Really Said About Minorities.
Gandhi was completely opposed to any suggestion about doubting the nationality of minority Hindus in Pakistan and minority Muslims in India.
Jan 24, 2020 | Ravish Kumar
“Those people from three neighbouring countries who belong to minority communities and have fled to India to escape persecution, have been provided a measure of help and relief by the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019; they have been shown some leniency. These concessions are not necessarily the outcome of Modi’s thinking. It is not that the idea materialised in Modi’s mind overnight and Modi made it happen. These concessions conform to the very spirit of Gandhi’s thought. Mahatma Gandhi said so – those who have used his name to pontificate about the state of the nation and continue to use his surname for their vested interests, better listen carefully. Gandhi ji said so – you may or may not believe Modi, but at least believe Gandhi! Mahatma Gandhi has said, whenever our Hindu and Sikh brothers and sisters living in Pakistan feel they want to come to India, they are welcome. Mind you, I am not the one saying this but our venerable Mahatma Gandhi.”

Answer:
Calling Gandhi a "great soul", Modi said Bapu continues to give courage to millions globally.
Referring to Nelson Mandela who called Gandhi “the Sacred Warrior”, the PM wrote that Bapu had the unique ability to become a bridge between some of the greatest contradictions in human society.
Modi said that the Father of the Nation envisioned Indian nationalism as one that was never narrow or exclusive but one that worked for the service of humanity.
"Mahatma Gandhi also epitomized trust among all sections of society. In 1917, Ahmedabad in Gujarat witnessed a huge textile strike. When the conflict between the mill workers and owners escalated to a point of no return, it was Gandhi who mediated an equitable settlement," the PM wrote.
Saying that Bapu created huge impact through small steps, the PM mentioned how Gandhi formed the Majoor Mahajan Sangh, an association for workers’ rights. "During those days, 'Mahajan' was used as a title of respect for elites. Gandhi inverted the social structure by attaching the name 'Mahajan' to 'Majoor,' or labourers. With that linguistic choice, Gandhi enhanced the pride of workers," Modi wrote.
