Vidyaprakashini High School, Allahabad has observed the 'World Mother Language Day' in the Seminar Hall on 22 2018. "World Mother Language Day' is observed annually across the world to commemorate the important of mother tongue and its cultural and linguistic importance.
The chief guest for the occasion was the Head of the Department of English, Benaras Hindu University, Dr. Mayank Desai. In his address to the students, he highlighted the importance of mother tongue for every child when they are growing up. The first things that we learn are through our mother tongue. In India, though English has become the most important vehicle of expression, regional languages also play and important role. The cultural ethos of the people are expressed in mother language.
As part of the program, essay writing and debate competitions were conducted and prizes were distributed at the hands of the chief guest.
International Mother Language day is held on 21st February every year and UNESCO announced the world mother language day on 17th November, 1999.
As we know that that this day was first recognized by United Nations General Assembly and last year, our school organized the world mother language day on 22nd February, 2018.
The day was started with a welcome speech of our principle and we had a guest of honour, Ms. Taslima Nasrin.
