Social media is very popular among teenagers, and it affects teenagers in a lot of different ways. Teens use social media to connect, meet new people and learn about new things. As social media develops each year, teen’s problems on social media have developed too. Bullying and suicide are becoming a very serious issue related to social media. Teens from 13 to 17 are highly affected by these problems, which is why I think social media should be banned for kids under 18.

Bullying has become a very serious problem in the past few years. Bullying via the Internet is called cyberbullying. Kids from the age of 13-17 are more likely to experience cyberbullying. Kids make posts or comments that are offensive to others. Cyberbullying includes harassment, humiliation, teasing and aggression. Teens that experience cyberbullying seems to lack self-confidence. Also, people that are bullied experience a higher risk of depression, panic disorder and suicide, yet people seem to ignore this problem. Hundreds of thousands of kids attempt suicide each year, many of whom were being bullied in some way or another. This is becoming a very dangerous issue in our community.

This is why I believe social media should be banned for kids under the age of 18. The rate of cyberbullying and suicide will decline drastically as a result. Fewer teenagers will suffer from depression, panic disorder, lack of self-confidence and other related problems. This will also make a humongous difference for how kids do in school. Banning social media for kids under 18 will be a great idea to solve some of the problems we are facing today in our society.
