COVID-19

Sometimes life isn't about all rainbows and sunshine.

The fact that there was no catastrophic pandemic in recent history does not mean there won't be another one.

The sudden outbreak of COVID-19 has left the whole world in danger and confusion. We don't know when will this pandemic end. At this crucial point of time where social distancing is the need of the hour, the whole country is under lock down.

Let us discuss in detail about the pandemic.

What is Corona Virus?

It is a virus or group of viruses which causes diseases in humans or animals. It causes respiratory problems ranging from normal cold to serious diseases such as SARS which stands for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, MERS which stands for Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, COVID-19.

Covid-19 is one of the serious infectious diseases caused by coronavirus. This virus originated in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 and now has spread in many parts of the world.

Symptoms of Covid-19 :-

Fever

Common cold

Dry cough

Fatigue

Aches

Diarrhea

It is a contagious disease and hence can be transmitted if you come in contact of people who have it already. It can spread from one person to the other through droplets from mouth or nose. On coughing or sneezing, the droplets land on the objects or surfaces nearby, so touching them is risky as well. If a person touch such objects and then touch his mouth, eyes, nose, virus can easily get into the body.

Precautions to be taken :-

Avoid public places. Chances of spreading the virus is high in public places.

In case you need to travel, always wear masks and gloves.

Don't touch your face often.

Wash your hands thoroughly (palm, back of hands, between fingers, under the nails) with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

Maintain a good distance from the person who is coughing or sneezing.

What is required to do now?

The only solution right now to prevent it is to follow lockdown and social isolation.

Our Hon'ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has announced lock down in the whole country. We as responsible citizens of India should follow it.

In this time of crisis, where social isolation is the need of the hour, there are things which we can do at our homes to keep ourselves busy and happy.

The Government of India has also launched "Aarogya Setu" app which connects essential health services with the people of India in our combined fight against Covid-19. The app inform the users regarding risks, best practices and relevant advisories pertaining to the containment of Covid-19. The app uses your Bluetooth and GPS location for awaring you if you come across an infected person.

Use your time wisely at your homes and stay safe!

Answer:

COVID-19

Explanation:

The coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic is the defining global health crisis of our time and the greatest challenge we have faced since World War Two. Since its emergence in Asia late last year, the virus has spread to every continent except Antarctica. Cases are rising daily in Africa the Americas, and Europe.

Countries are racing to slow the spread of the virus by testing and treating patients, carrying out contact tracing, limiting travel, quarantining citizens, and cancelling large gatherings such as sporting events, concerts, and schools.

The pandemic is moving like a wave—one that may yet crash on those least able to cope.

But COVID-19 is much more than a health crisis. By stressing every one of the countries it touches, it has the potential to create devastating social, economic and political crises that will leave deep scars. As the UN’s lead agency on socio-economic impact and recovery, UNDP will provide the technical lead in the UN’s socio-economic recovery, supporting the  role of the Resident Coordinators, with UN teams working as one across all aspects of the response.

Every day, people are losing jobs and income, with no way of knowing when normality will return. Small island nations, heavily dependent on tourism, have empty hotels and deserted beaches. The International Labour Organization estimates that 195 million jobs could be lost.
