In promoting government transparency and to fight corruption Aruna Roy has been best known for it. Her father was the one who instilled the feeling of a social activist in her and to be independent was taught by her mother. After completing her college she started teaching. However, she aspired to become a civil servant and she cleared Indian Administrative Services examinations. being the grassroots and social organization "Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan (MKSS)", Aruna Roy was the prominent leader. This organization worked for the empowerment of the peasants and the worker. In establishing the Right to Information Act she played a vital role in 2005.
