The essence of Durga Puja in our locality

Every year in the month of September-October, we get a feel of the win of good over evil. We celebrate the arrival of Goddess Durga and that's when the festival of Durga Puja commences. We can see pandals decked up with lights and the Goddess idol at the centre.

The streets are beautifully lit up with lights and it's mainly a festival of prime importance for the people of Kolkata( in West Bengal). There was also a beautiful pandal of Goddess Durga with her children in our locality set up in the middle of the field near our house.

The theme for this year was 'Beat Plastic Pollution'. The entire pandal was made out of materials that looked like plastics, with instances of the unhealthy effects that it has on the environment. It was definitely a great initiative taken by our locality to uphold the latest issue that's bothering our planet.
