Duma was a consultative parliament in Russia.
It was created by the permission of the Tsar during the 1905 Revolution.Tsar dismissed the 1st Duma within 75 days and re-elected the 2nd Duma within 3months . He also packed the 3rd Duma with conservative politicians.
Stalin hoped to solve the problem of food shortage in the country through collecting and combining small farms with large and modern farms. He believed that rich peasants and traders were holding stocks in Hope of greater prices. He started raiding kulaks -the well to do peasants so that they could be eliminated in order to create these state controlled large farms . The peasants were also forced to work on these state controlled large farms called kolkhoz. This was the collectivisation programme that started in 1929.
