Every society has the responsibility to develop healthy ways to deal with societal conflicts. If it does not, it will destroy itself from within. When members of a society have conflict, this can reach a level where societal interests are activated and the police are called and courts become involved. Because societies are multifaceted with many competing interests the role a society plays is also multifaceted.
