\underline{\underline{\sf Pituitary \ Gland \ \colon}}

Location :

  • Pituitary Gland is located in the Diencephalon part of Forebrain enveloped by Sella turcica

Function :

  • Pituitary gland is further divided into Adenohypophysis and Neurohypophysis which secrete several Inhibiting and Releasing Hormones .

Hormones :

  • Growth Hormone

  • Luteinising Hormone

  • Follicle Stimulating Hormone

  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone

  • Anti Diuretic Hormone

  • Oxytocin

\underline{\underline{\sf Thyroid \ Gland \ \colon}}

Location :

  • Thyroid gland is present on the either side of the trachea by the virtue of a connective tissue known as Isthmus

Function :

  • Hormones released by the thyroid gland regulate the rates of metabolism in the body

Hormones :

  • T3,Tridothyronine ( Active and More Potent form )

  • T4, Tetraidothyronine

\underline{\underline{\sf Thymus \ Gland \ \colon}}

  • Location : Dorsal side of heart

  • Function : Maturation of T Cells

  • Hormone : Thymosin

\underline{\underline{\sf Pancreas \ \colon}}

Function :

  • The endocrinos secretions of pancreas include Insulin and Glucagon which are produced by beta and alpha cells of Islets of Langerhans respectively.

  • Their functions are antagonistic in nature. Insulin decreases the blood sugar level while the latter increase it

Hormone :

  • Insulin

  • Glucagon

\underline{\underline{\sf Testes \ \colon}}

Function :

Testis produces androgens which are responsible for development of secondary sexual characters in males

Hormone :

Principal Androgen is Testosterone

\underline{\underline{\sf Ovaries \ \colon}}

Function :

Produces steroid hormones which are responsible for development of secondary characters in females

Hormone :;

  • Estrogen

  • Progesterone

\underline{\underline{\sf Parathyroid \ Gland \ \colon}}

Function :

Produces hormones which are hypocalcitonic in nature,reduces levels of calcium

Hormone :
