Heyaa..

H.C.F refers to Highest Common Factor...

So let's write the given two numbers as the product of prime numbers..

= > 12 \ = \ 2 \ * \ 2\  *  \  3

= > 16 \ = \ 2 \ * \ 2 \ * \ 2 \ * \2 \* \ 2

Therefore..The common factors in these two are 2 \ * \ 2

H.C.F \ ( 12 , 16 ) \ = \ 2 \ * \ 2 \ = \ 4

Hope it helps...

Given:

First number = 12

Second number = 16

To find:

HCF of the numbers

Solution:

The term HCF stands for Highest Common Factor

Finding the factors of the numbers -

12 = 2 × 2 × 3

16 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2

Both the numbers have common prime factors

Thus, the common factors of both the numbers are -

= 2 × 2

= 4

Answer: The HCF of the numbers is 4.
