: Problem of Small Children.
Sir,
I shall be very thankful to you if you kindly publish my view on the above mentioned topic in your newspaper.
It is observed that some of the children in the age group of 5-14 in villages and also in towns remain either at home or work in the fields or simply loiter in the city streets. At this age, these children should be at school. They do not go to school either due to poverty or disinterestedness. Those who give the reason of poverty should know that school education is totally free. Also the children at school get free midday meal.
Regarding disinterestedness, the parents and the educated people in the villages and cities should motivate the children to join school.
Those who work in the fields and in factories should be made to understand that, that is not age to work.
The government should send counsellors to counsel the parents and the children about the importance of education. Some parents feel that they get help of children in their work but they don't understand that their children will remain illiterate and will not be able to earn their living of their own. These illiterate and unskilled children will be a big burden on the society when they grow up. The only solution is that the parents and children should be made aware that the elementary education is free.
I hope the government and the other concerned persons will take necessary steps to solve the problem.
Yours Faithfully,
Karangrover.

sir,
Sub:- child labour
Sir,
I would like to focus the issue to the higher authorities and would like to draw attention towards child labour. The problem of child labour continues to pose a challenge before the nation. Many do not receive proper nutrition or care. They are denied the chance to be children. More than half of them are exposed to the worst forms of child labour such as work in hazardous environments, slavery, or other forms of forced labour, illicit activities Government has been taking various pro-active measures to tackle this problem. However, considering the magnitude and extent of the problem and that it is essentially a socio-economic problem inextricably linked to poverty and illiteracy, it requires concerted efforts from all sections of the society to make a dent in the problem. As per survey conducted by National Sample Survey Organisation (NSSO) in 2004-05, the number of working children is estimated at 90.75 lakh. As per Census 2011, the number of working children in the age group of 5-14 years has further reduced to 43.53 lakh..Government has accordingly been taking proactive steps to tackle this problem through strict enforcement of legislative provisions along with simultaneous rehabilitative measures. State Governments, which are the appropriate implementing authorities, have been conducting regular inspections and raids to detect cases of violations. Since poverty is the root cause of this problem, and enforcement alone cannot help solve it, Government has been provide free education systems to the children.
Thanking you,
Yours sincerely,
