Soldiers deployed outside of the United States will be receiving letters of gratitude on Thanksgiving Day from Cherokee County students through The Bert Show’s “The Big Thank You” campaign.
“I have participated through the Bert Show’s Big Thank You every year since I started teaching and I started in my own class. I love the idea of getting the kids to think outside of our four walls and to know that there are other things happening other than just high school. Every year I had a couple more people jump on… this year, I thought about our zone and the turnout has been amazing,” said Amanda Farist, River Ridge High School English teacher.
Through the campaign sponsored by WWWQ 99.7, Farist has been able to tell her students about her cousin who spent 200 days overseas as a U.S. Marine, her grandfathers and great-grandfather who were all in the military, as well as her uncles who served.
