Sub: Making Educational Curriculum More Flexible, Interesting and Relevant
Sir:
I am writing to your esteemed self to suggest a few much-needed relevant
changes in the educational curriculum to suit to the fast changing needs of the
nation and the world. The government deserves commendation for implementing CCE
educational reforms. However, our country needs much more than that! India is
becoming an important nation in the global scenario. The other advanced
countries expect more contributions in terms of scientific, economic, and
technological development.
Our current education system, in spite of the recently introduced reforms, is
predominantly a theoretical system. Undoubtedly, Indian students are admired
for their excellent academics worldwide. However, we need practical education
system. Our country needs more and more skilled manpower to tackle umpteen
issues. So I appeal to you to make our educational system training based
system. Vocational courses should dominate the academics. Courses that prepare
the students for their careers since the very young age should be taught to children.
The schools must provide hands-on training in all the key areas such as
sciences, IT, medicine, astronomy, defense forces, sports, space, electronics,
architecture, etc. There should not be only theoretical study. It must be
replaced by actual training in the fields of students’ choice. Last but not the
least, the educationists should devise and implement progressive methods of
teaching and evaluation that do not put unnecessary burden on the young minds
of the students.
I am hopeful you will consider my appeal and do the needful.
Yours truly,
Himmat Singh
