Dear sir,
Through the columns of your acclaimed newspaper, I would like to draw the kind attention of people towards the obstacles faced by the old people in big cities. Life has turned so fast and materialistic in the big cities that today's youth have lost all sense of respect, care, and responsibility towards the older generation. There has been a steep fall in the moral values of our society.
The younger generation has become so busy making money that they are losing their values and concern of responsibilities towards their old parents. The older people are being sent to rot in old age homes and as a consequence, the ones who spent their entire life in raising their children are now left separated and shattered to spend their life in utter disregard and isolation. They have to battle the challenge of daily chores at this age and give up all their joys and comforts. When the time came for the children to look after their old parents, they rather consider them as burdens and objects of the perpetual nuisance. How could the young be so callous and ungrateful? They must not forget that they too will get old and ponder within themselves, mend their ways, and learn to treat the elders with all the sense of respect, dignity, and concern.
