Sir/Madam,
This letter is to inform you of the problematic delay in the repair and replacement of street lights in our locality. They have not been functioning since one week. In these days generally people of all ages do walk on streets in the evening and night for various essential purposes. Men and women return from their work away at long distances and the children return from their tuitions. Safety of women and children from thieves and robbers is in danger now due to darkness on the streets.
Due to the monsoon rains some of the roads are damaged. The roads are somewhat uneven. It is essential that the street lights are quickly replaced. We have contacted the related staff. But they have told us some excuses and reasons, which we are unable to understand. We have been in contact with the representative for the ward and councilor. However, there seems to be some hitch somewhere that we don't see. In case stock does not exist at the moment, some lights could be borrowed from some source, perhaps. In case of repair for the electrical connections and wiring, then some alternative arrangements should be made asap.
So we request you to review the status immediately and order an immediate action. Request also to see that such delays do not happen in future.
If it is possible, use of latest technology LED lights could be more economical and efficient.
