Dear Khushi,
I am so excited to share my knowledge about an indigenous groups -Maya. on which I have done a lot of research
The Maya are a Mesoamerican ethnolinguistic group of indigenous peoples. Members of this tribe founded the ancient Maya civilisation, and today's Maya are mostly derived from those who lived during that time period. They now live in Mexico's south, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, and Honduras. The name "Maya" is a contemporary collective title for the peoples of the region; nevertheless, the indigenous peoples did not use it historically. Because each people, society, and ethnic group had its own customs, cultures, and historical identities, there was no shared sense of identification or political unity among them.
At the turn of the century, it was believed that seven million Maya people lived in this region. Guatemala, southern Mexico, the Yucatán Peninsula, Belize, El Salvador, and western Honduras have all managed to preserve a significant portion of their historic cultural history. Some are well-integrated into the dominant hispanicized mestizo cultures of the countries where they live, while others live a more traditional, culturally unique life, speaking one of the Mayan languages as a first language.
Guatemala, Belize, and western Honduras and El Salvador have the greatest numbers of modern Maya, as do substantial sectors of the populations in the Mexican states of Yucatán, Campeche, Quintana Roo, Tabasco, and Chiapas.
Than kyou so much for your time and do share your thoughts via a letter about your thoughts on it.
With lots of love,
Yours lovingly,
Sakhhi
