Sangamesh Nasigar, Telephone Consultative Committee member of BSNL, Bidar division, has complained against the low quality of service by the public sector service provider in the district.

Mr. Nasigar has also terminated his BSNL landline and broadband connection citing low speed of internet.

In a letter to the Telecom district manager, he said officers were guilty of irregularities and inefficiency. He alleged that while the Bidar BSNL office had records of the popper wires bought, there were no documents on how much of that was considered scrap. He suspects officials had misappropriated the material.“I had an eight mbps connection at home, but I get speeds varying from 0.69 to 4.4 mbps only. Despite several requests, officials did nothing to speed it up. I terminated the connection in May, but officials continue to send me the bill. No official has been held responsible for the low quality of service. The inefficiency of officers is making consumers suffer,” he said.

Even today, there are areas like Gumpa, Housing board, Siddharth college and Guru Nagar which don’t have proper landline connections. Residents have been trying in vain for years to get one. BSNL is delaying installing 30 mobile towers to improve connectivity. If this situation continues, I will approach the district consumer forum, Mr. Nasigar said in his complaint.
