Subject: Indiscriminate use of insecticides killing birds
Dear Sir:
I am writing to your good self to express my deep concern over the problem of indiscriminate use of insecticides which is killing birds. Researchers have confirmed neonicotinoids are lethal to birds. A single seed coated with a neonic is enough to kill a songbird, such as Field Sparrow.
It has also been found by researchers in Netherlands that wherever imidacloprid concentrations were higher, the bird population had declined considerably. The use of these insecticide in our country is at its peak. No wonder there are hardly any birds left in our environment. Through the medium of your columns I appeal to people and Government Wildlife Protection Ministry to ban all toxic insecticide in our country to save birds population.
I hope you will give enough space to my views in the columns of your reputed daily.
Thanking you.
Yours truly,
Amitabh
