To The Editor,
The Times of India,
Bangalore.
Subject : Spread of waterborne diseases.
Sir,
As a responsible citizen, I’d like to create awareness about the sudden spurt in the water-borne diseases among the public through this letter. With the onset of summer, there is a sudden spurt of water-borne diseases like cholera, dysentery, etc. It is always better to prevent these than to cure later for we lose so much energy when effected. Since unclean water contains a lot of bacteria and germs, we should avoid drinking it. It is better to boil the water we drink. As for food items, we should always keep them covered. It is always preferable if we eat freshly cooked food as it takes 4 to 6 hours to infect the food. Whenever we eat or cook food, we should wash our hands thoroughly with soap.
If in spite of precautions, we get any disease through contaminated water, we must get treatment. High fever, restlessness and blood in stool are the symptoms of these diseases. If we have these, we should rush to the doctor immediately.
Thank you,
Regards,
Varun.
