Recently, I have seen news about a crime through Facebook, a popular social media platform in World. An airline stewardess called a car by DiDi which is a travel app in China, at midnight after she was off duty. The driver raped her and stabbed her to death. When the body was found, there were over 20 wounds. People were outraged.

The murder became controversial because most women judged the driver and think he deserves jail, but most men judged the girl and think she should not have gone outside at midnight. Things like women harmed by men happen a lot recently, but most people usually judge the victims.

The women-harmed crime rate is increasing in China now. In my opinion, there are two reasons. First, the status of females is low in China, so men are less respecting of women. Men feel they can attack women without guilt. Relevant departments of government are in dereliction of duty. When women call police because men harm them, the police usually ignore it. Therefore, men will continue to do more terrible things to women.

It is abnormal that the women-harmed crime rate keeps increasing in the country. To build a better place for people to live in, the government should make relevant laws to protect women and improve their social status.

Government needs to increase the punishment level for criminals who commit crimes against women and strengthen supervision of the relevant departments to ensure the execution of laws.
