Dear sir/madam

I am regular reader of your newspaper and through the columns of your paper I would like to complain about increasing rate of global warming.

Global warming has become increasingly apparent that the weather is changing drastically. The only plausible explanation is global warming.

The Earth's temperature is rising. Summers are becoming unbearable, there is less rainfall, glaciers are melting and many species are fast becoming extinct. The situation is alarming. If we don't make a conscious effort to check global warming,we might find ourselves in a completely different world in next 20 years.

Humans unknowingly contribute to global warming through various ways in their everyday lives. Small precautionary can go a long way in conserving our environment. For instance, one of the simplest measures is minimal use of electrical appliances and judicious use of fossil fuels.

I will be grateful if my concern is made public through your widely read national daily

Thanking you

Yours faithfully

Subject: Global Warming Consequences and Solutions

Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily newspaper, I wish to highlight the danger and solutions to climate change and global warming.

Global warming is the phenomenon of the increase in the temperature of the atmosphere due to the presence of excessive green house gases. Global warming will results in melting of the polar ice caps and raise in the ocean level which will submerge islands and coastal lands. Global warming is a reality but there are remedies too.

Global warming would cause unpredictable rainfall. A sudden flash flood will be followed by a period of drought. This will cause scarcity of drinking water and irrigation for cultivation leading to worldwide food scarcity.

Planting more trees will reduce the amount of the harmful carbon dioxide gas in the atmosphere and reduce global warming. We need to use alternative energy instead of burning of fossil fuels like coal and petroleum products. Burning of fossil fuels increase global warming and also deplete the ozone layer which protects us from the harmful effects of UV rays of the Sun.

Proper treatment of industrial waste before they are dumped and using renewable energy, electric, hydro and solar energy will help us to reduce the danger of global warming. Urgent steps must be taken to reduce exhaust emissions from motor vehicles, power plants, factories and industries. Global warming needs global action to save and preserve life on Earth.

Yours sincerely,

R. MEENAKSHI
