My dear Mother,
You will be glad to know that I have been admitted to Government Hr. Secondary School, Kathua. I have been given a good seat in the New Hostel. During the first week of my stay here, I did not feel at home. But now I do not feel so. This is due to my coming into Anil’s contact. He is my class-fellow. He is very nice to me. We go to school together and take our meals together. I am proud of his company and friendship.
My dear mother, I have some reasons for liking Anil. Anil is a true friend. He has all the qualities of head and heart and has a very pleasing temperament. He is a perfect gentleman and also believes in simple living and high thinking. His keen sense of duty and simple manners are a source of inspiration to me.
Anil’s jolly nature attracts me most towards him. His constantly high spirits cheer me. Whenever I become sad, I immediately seek his company. His ever-smiling face comforts me. He talks as if life is a bed of roses. He makes light of all misfortunes.
I am sure you will approve of my friendship with Anil. I have invited him to our house during the Autumn Recess. If he comes, I am sure, you will get a proof of my good choice of a friend.
