Subject: Expressing concern over the acute Water shortage
Sir
On behalf of the residents of Ram Nagar, I would like to draw your kind attention to the problem of acute water shortage in our area. Water pressure invariably remains low and water trickles down the taps in drops. Many a time taps go dry. The residents have to buy potable water at exorbitant rates from private suppliers. The junior officials of your department assured us many times but no concrete step has been taken to boost the water supply.
We do understand that the underground water level has gone down. The remedy lies in deeper borewells and more powerful motors to pump out water. Affluent residents have installed booster pumps on the main lines and they suck out maximum water. With this potable water, they water their plants and mini farms and wash their vehicles. Honest and law-abiding citizens have to go without water. These people should be penalised and their water connections should be cut.
Since the summer season is going to set in, our problem will worsen if something is not done. Please take remedial steps as early as possible.
