Answer:

Dear Mom and Dad,

I know that everyone across the globe are struggling to fight this nightmare of corona virus but still I feel these days are the best days of my life. You both must be thinking what makes me say all this, let me tell you, in all these years I haven’t been able to spend so much time with both of you because dad, you have been busy with your business commitments and mom worked hard to keep our home running and taking care of other responsibilities.

Since mom is home most of the time, we still get to bond with each other but with you dad, I just spend time on the weekends because you work really hard till late night during the weekdays, so that we all can have a better future. In this lockdown period, I am able to get the much desired attention and time from both of you, which I had always dreamed of. Yesterday, dad when you made my favourite pizza, I cannot explain how touched I was with that kind gesture. And the best part was that, me, you and mom were working as a team to make that pizza. Just in as matter of few days, I have realized that no matter what problem comes in my life, if I have my family's back, I can face it.

I understand that you have work stress and this is why dad, you are not able to spend quality family time with us but I am happy that now during this lockdown, you are making so much effort to strengthen our family bond. I loved the way you helped mom with cleaning last night, and told her that it is not her job alone to manage the home. Mom, I can’t thank you enough for all that you have done for me, but really appreciate the way you go an extra mile even during this lockdown period when you have so much on your plate already, to make things which I like to eat. I feel blessed to have you both in my life.

Corona virus has undoubtedly caused a lot of panic and stress across the globe but children like me are really happy and grateful because we are getting to spend good time with our parents. Someone had rightly said “Having somewhere to go is home. Having someone to love is family. And having both is a blessing.”

We all want this pandemic to end asap and I am sure it will definitely end very soon but till then, I would like to make most of this lockdown period with both of you; by playing games together, cooking together, watching films, doing exercises, learning gardening from dad, mastering the art of painting under mom’s guidance and much more. I just want to create memories which we all as a family will cherish for years to come.

Love and Regards

Your Son

⭐ here's your letter ⭐

Dear mom,

I want to write you a letter for the month of May – an analogue antidote to our intense online digital lives. Of course, for now, you will be reading this on a screen but my hope is, as you’ll see if you read on, that some offline letters will follow between us. For the time being I will write this in the style of a letter, thinking of the quality of one.

It was my birthday last week and I received two fountain pens and three bottles of ink as presents (my mother and husband both had the same idea), so whilst I am typing this, using squares on a keyboard, I am dreaming of ink on paper. I think what is special about a letter, the real kind that you can hold in your hands, is that it foregrounds my particular moment of writing, and then yours of reading. It grounds me in the physical, sitting now in the living room, the cold metal of the laptop on my legs, while the children watch a Toy Story short on Disney Plus (a new lockdown addition to our lives). It makes explicit the incredible thing that writing does, bridging gaps of time and space, and of people- the gap between you and me. It does physical distancing yet social bridging like nothing else, and I need that kind of bridge right now.

hope it helps you

thanks ☺️
