Sir ,
Through your esteemed daily I wish to draw the attention of all the likeminded people and the authority to the indiscriminate use of loudspeakers.
Loudspeakers are one of the gifts of science and have a great utility .They prove very handy to address a large gathering .But we begin to face trouble as soon as the loudspeaker are used in various ways by various people for their own purpose without caring for the interest of the others.
Loudspeakers are now being used all the time throughout the dday and frequently through the night at the highest pitch .Even small shopkeepers misuse them to attract customers. At the time of marriage , all the people in a joyous abandon misuse it most of the night .Lavish night parties to celebrate anything make free use of stereos to musically shock the whole locality . Then there is a spate of Bhagwati Jagrans which by using the highest pitch of the loudspeakers force the audience to keep awake the whole nigh .Nobody bothers whether there are students preparing for the examinations or patients requiring undisturbed peacefull rest or people , after day –long hard toil , longing to sleep .
The public needs that there should be some restrictions on the use of loudspeakers .There should be special permission and time limit for their use and deterrent punishment for the infringement of orders. Public should be made aware that loudspeakers create noise pollution dangerous for health .Above all , everybody has a right to enjoy a noiseless rest and peace
Thanking You
Your Sincerely

Subject: The insensitive use loudspeakers.
Respected Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily newspaper, I would like to express my displeasure on the excessive use of loudspeakers (PA Systems) in cities towns.
Sir, I am not against the celebration of festivals. They are a time of joy everyone look forward to. Festivals are an inalienable part of our social life.
The problem is not celebration of festivals, but the manner in which it is celebrated. The use of loudspeakers during festival seasons need to be restricted.
Then there are restaurants, cafes and night clubs where loud music is played late into the night in the name of birthday celebrations and parties.
This are all public disturbance and another form of noice pollution. Loudspeakers and loud music are played not only during the day but throughout the whole night. This disturbs the sleep of the public. It also interferes with the study times of students. We must also consider the sick people who want quiet time to sleep properly.
Therefore, I feel that the use of loudspeakers and loud music should be banned or restricted in residential areas. Permit must be obtained first from the Deputy Commissioner and granted only if is meant for the good of the general public. There must be a rule specifying a certain time limit beyond which defaulters will be penalised.
Yours sincerely,
N. S. HAZARIKA
