write a letter to the district collector about problems of farmers
Answers
Dear Sir/ Madam,
Sub: Difficulties faced by the farming community in xxxxx
We, the farmers of xxxxx village, have been bringing to the notice of the local officials here about the various bottlenecks we have been encountering in carrying on our farming activity. Unfortunately, none of these problems have been duly addressed so far, with the result that we are afraid the entire village might be pushed to face serious consequences economically and socially. Here are some salient points we have raised with the officials:
1. The power supply to run the diesel pumps for irrigation is quite erratic and right when we desperately need it during the day time to water our fields, the supply is cut off. The local EB officials claim they are helpless.
2. The distribution of fertilizers at he Block Office level has been far from satisfactory. Farmers have been told to make repeated trips to collect the fertilizers which is impractical since we have to be at the field working and cannot be wasting our time at the mercy of the officers at the Block level.
3. Many farmers are yet to receive proper documents confirming the crop insurance policies, the premiums for which we have already paid. The details are attached for your perusal.
We now request you to immediately look into these issues and preferably make a personal visit to our village to know the situation first-hand. We will appreciate if immediate remedial actions are taken on the above.
"To,
The District Collector, Ambala.
This letter is to draw your attention to the significant problems farmers are facing in our district and request you to take steps to aid them.
The drought has caused a lack of water in farms, and the crops are all drying. On top of that, there is a sand mafia group operating in the local river, and they deny access to the water to the residents.
Farmer suicides are increasing because of the enormous loans they own to moneylenders. The farmers have to resort to distress selling as there is a lack of transportation to the markets. Kindly look into these matters, and we all shall be eternally grateful.
Yours faithfully, (Name)
