Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I wish to draw the attention of the concerned authorities towards the problem of rising pollution levels and its subsequent harmful effects in the city.
Pollution indices in Varanasi have only got worse with time. In 2017, CPCB called it the most polluted city in the country, while in 2018, WHO listed it as the 3rd most polluted city in the world. Data revealed that pollution levels in Varanasi were 20 times more than WHO’s standards. In fact, the city’s air quality was found to be more toxic than in Delhi. Though in that year the city reported seven days of good air quality, as compared to zero in 2015.Air quality in the Indian holy city of Varanasi is “the most toxic in the country” according to research that reveals the extent of the pollution crisis across northern India.
So,Sir Could you please mention this problem in your daily.People should decrease Riding a bike or walking instead of driving.Take a bus instead of private vehicle.
Buying a car that has greater fuel efficiency.Turning off lights and appliances when they are not in use.Using energy efficient light bulbs and appliances.Buying fewer things that are manufactured using fossil fuels.The concerned authorities wake up from their slumber and take action accordingly.
