Respected Sir/Madam,

I am the resident of ____ area. Last week the residents of this area witnessed strong winds as well as heavy rains. Because of this natural calamity residents of the area were unable to move out and help themselves to save their lives. Many of them were injured and a few had to lose their lives. We all were expecting apt and prompt rescue operation by the Government authorities. But we did't get any positive response from them in spite of  contacting them for several times.

Hereby, I request you to help us out to reach to the authorities through your newspaper.

Subject: Government’s apathy to rescue and rehabilitation efforts

Sir:

I am writing this letter to express my deep concern over the Government authorities’ apathy over the rescue and rehabilitation efforts after the storm. It was quite and unfortunate that our city was affected by the recent storm and incessant rains.  

Thousands of people were affected. Buildings and houses were badly damaged; roads were flooded. All calamities can be borne provided we are together and helped. Such a large scale devastation can only be handled by Government. I am pained to see that the authorities that have the responsibility to rescue and rehabilitate the affected people, have been showing apathetic and indifferent attitude.  

In such a situation as this, prompt action and measures are needed. However, the Government appears to be very slow in its response. As a result there is resentment among people. Through the medium of your esteemed daily, I appeal to the authorities to expedite rescue and rehabilitation efforts. Kindly, give my appeal some space in your widely circulated daily. I shall be thankful.
